Mariela's Music Time
WASSKA PROJECT is a powerful collaboration between Javier Trujillo, an accomplished classical guitar player, and Mariela Herrera, a dynamic educator and artist. They expertly blend and create captivating melodies inspired by the rich tapestry of Latin American rhythms and languages, including Bossa Nova, boleros, waltzes, and the vibrant influence of Afro-Peruvian tap dance. Their music celebrates cultural diversity and artistic mastery, featuring a lively conversation between voice, cajón, and guitar that invites audiences to enjoy and immerse themselves in the experience.

🌎 Experience the Spirit of Latin American Dance!
As a passionate dancer, I’m proud to be part of two incredible groups that celebrate the richness and diversity of folkloric dance. Whether you’re looking to bring the vibrant energy of Chilean traditions or the colorful rhythms of the Andes to your next event, we offer unforgettable performances that connect cultures through movement and music.
💃 Our Performances and Workshops
I dance with two unique companies, each offering a distinct experience of folkloric expression:

1. Chilean Folk Dance Ensemble
Born and raised in Chile, I’ve been dancing the rhythms that span the entire country—from the lively tunes of the Chilean Patagonia, through the spirited huaso (Chilean cowboy) traditions of the central valleys, to the mesmerizing Polynesian dances from Easter Island (Rapa Nui). Our group showcases the diversity of Chile’s cultural heritage, offering performances that can be tailored to festivals, cultural events, private celebrations, and educational programs.

2. Valverde Dance Company
Based in San Francisco and founded in 2010 by Luis Valverde, Valverde Dance focuses on the research, practice, and promotion of folkloric dances from South America—especially those rooted in the majestic Andes Mountains. Through performances and Andean dance workshops, we bring to life the stories, colors, and rhythms of Andean culture.
Whether you’re planning a cultural event, a school assembly, a festival, or a private celebration, both ensembles can be booked for:
-
Full-length dance performances
-
Short showcases
-
Interactive workshops and demonstrations
-
Cultural presentations for educational settings
Bring the heartbeat of South America to your next event—through the music,
